Amid the outflow of foreign capital and profit-booking in banks and FMCG shares,
the domestic stock market closed lower on Friday after six consecutive trading sessions of gains.
The BSE’s 30-share benchmark index, Sensex group
the Sensex, fell by 344.52 points, or 0.41%, to close at 84,211.88 points.
Among the companies included in the Sensex group, Hindustan Unilever’s shares saw the highest decline of 3.20 percent.
BSE midcap and smallcap
-The BSE midcap index fell by 0.26 percent and the smallcap index by 0.19 percent.
A decline of 0.77 percent was recorded in banks
0.71 percent in FMCG,
0.51 percent in financial services,
0.47 percent in power,
0.40 percent in consumer discretionary goods,
0.38 percent in services, and 0.38 percent in consumer durables.
International benchmark
Brent Crude: International benchmark Brent crude remained at $65.83 per barrel, down 0.24 percent.
